Weaver Chicken was founded more than six decades ago by Victor F. Weaver, a man who epitomizes the American entrepreneurial dream of starting from nothing and building a successful business of lasting impact.

Early in 1937, Weaver and his father opened a stand in a new Sharon Hill market near Philadelphia. At that time, Weaver's stand was selling more than 200 broilers per week, which were raised on the family's farm. As demand increased, chickens were purchased from independant poultry farms.

A year after opening the stand, Victor Weaver and his wife Edith purchased four acres of land in New Holland, Pennsylvania, which included a house, shed, a chicken house, and other facilities. This land is the site of the Weaver processing plant today.

Victor F. WeaverDuring the next two decades, Weaver became known for high quality chicken. More markets opened in Philadelphia. The first Weaver retail store was opened in 1949, followed by six more in the years leading up to 1962.

Weaver also began marketing products in supermarkets, when the larger stores began making an appearance in the 1950s. As the supermarket trend continued, Weaver turned his attention toward wholesale marketing.

Over the years, Weaver led the way in providing further processed chicken to the consumer. It began with cut-up, sized chicken parts that saved consumers labor in the kitchen and gave them a choice in which pieces of chicken they wanted to buy. In 1960, experimentation began on a breaded chicken steak, the predecessor of today's Patty.

The Weaver line expanded to include frozen breaded boneless chicken, croquettes, wings, and other further processed items. Premium quality products and attractive packaging drove sales in the sixties and seventies. Soon Weaver became one of the hottest moving prepared poultry product lines in the Northeast.

Today, Weaver is known for its family-focused line of fully-cooked chicken products. The Victor Weaver standard of quality is still evident in each blue box bearing his name. As we head into the next century, Weaver Chicken is committed to maintaining our levels of quality and to bringing the most wholesome products to your family's dinner table.
